Candlemas celebrated on February 2, brings Catholics together to focus on Jesus’ presentation in the Temple 40 days after his birth. This feast celebrates the events recorded in Luke 2 22-38 and is an opportunity to focus on Jesus as the Light of the World, as candles represent the light of Christ. Today parishioners can bring candles to St Mary’s to be blessed and participate in our procession and mass. Take your blessed candles home and use them for devotions or during difficult times to remind us that the light of Christ is always with us.
